The Lightning Pool's Magic

Lily loved swimming more than anything in the world. Every summer, she'd splash in Crystal Creek until her fingers wrinkled like raisins. But this year, everything changed during the storm of the century.

The lightning flashed brighter than fireworks, striking the old willow tree by the creek. Lily hid under her blanket, counting seconds between the boom-boom-booms of thunder. But when she peeked outside the next morning, she couldn't believe her eyes.

The creek had transformed into a sparkling purple pool, and floating in the middle was a glowing green zombie frog!

"Ribbit-zzzz," it called, waving at her. Lily gasped. Was it scary? No! The frog wore a tiny crown made of flowers and smiled like a friendly grandpa.

"I'm Zog!" the zombie frog croaked. "The lightning magic woke me up from a hundred-year nap! Want to go swimming on a magic adventure?"

Lily nodded so hard her ponytail bounced. She jumped into the purple water, which felt like warm strawberry pudding. Zog showed her how to breathe underwater—just hold a glowing lightning bubble in your mouth!

Together, they explored an underwater castle made of coral and wishes. Fish made of rainbow light swam around them, leaving trails of sparkles. Zog taught Lily to speak Frog-glish: "Bloop-bloop" meant "friend forever," and "Ker-zing" meant "magic time!"

When the sun started setting, Zog grew sleepy. "The lightning magic only lasts one day," he yawned. "But we'll meet again in your dreams."

Lily hugged her zombie frog friend tight. As Zog faded back into the water, he whispered, "Thank you for the best swimming adventure ever. Friends make magic stronger than lightning!"

That night, Lily fell asleep with a smile. She knew somewhere in the purple pool, her zombie friend was dreaming of their next magical swimming day.
