The Lightning Pool Party

Lily loved her purple sparkly hat more than anything. She wore it everywhere — to breakfast, to school, even to bed! One rainy afternoon, she put on her hat and grabbed her toy zombie, Zed. Zed was green and floppy with stitching where his ear should be.

"Let's have an adventure, Zed!" Lily said, tossing Zed into the air.

Suddenly, CRACK! Lightning flashed purple outside her window. Lily ran to the backyard where the family pool waited. Rain pattered on the water's surface.

Then something magical happened. Zed, her toy zombie, started glowing! He hopped out of the grass and stood on his green legs.

"Lily!" Zed cheered. "The lightning magic brought me to life!"

Lily gasped. "You're ALIVE!"

"Let's have a pool party!" Zed cheered.

They jumped into the pool together. Splash! The water felt warm and magical, like a bathtub filled with sunshine. Zed showed Lily amazing tricks — he could do cannonballs that made rainbow-colored splashes!

More lightning flashed — purple, pink, and green — dancing across the sky like rainbow ribbons. Each flash made the pool glow brighter.

"I never knew you could swim, Zed!" Lily laughed, flipping in the water.

"I never knew I could be alive!" Zed replied.

They played until the rain stopped. As the sun peeked through clouds, Zed began to fade.

"Thank you for the best adventure," Zed whispered, hugging Lily. "I'll always be your friend, even when I'm just a toy again."

Lily held Zed tight as he turned back into stuffed fabric. Her purple hat dripped with pool water, but she didn't mind.

That night, Lily curled up with Zed. She knew magic was real — you just needed a little lightning, a pool, a hat, and someone to share it with.

And sometimes, the best friends are the ones you make yourself.
