The Lightning Pool Mystery

Lily and Max were the best secret spies in the whole neighborhood. Every Saturday, they wore their special sunglasses and carried magnifying glasses, searching for mysteries to solve around their house.

One hot afternoon, the two friends headed to the community pool for swimming lessons. But first, they had to pass the padel court where Lily's dad was playing. The ball went *thwack-thwack-thwack* against the glass walls.

"Look!" whispered Lily, pointing at something shiny near the fence. It was a small golden key, glimmering in the sun like a tiny treasure.

Max picked it up carefully. "A spy never leaves a mystery unsolved!"

Suddenly, dark clouds gathered above. Thunder rumbled like a giant tummy growling. Then—*CRACK!* Lightning flashed across the sky, purple and bright as grape soda.

Everyone else ran for cover, but Lily and Max noticed something strange. Each time lightning struck, the pool water glowed blue, just for a second. And the glow seemed to come from the deep end.

"We have to investigate," said Max bravely.

When the storm passed and the pool emptied, the two young spies peeked over the edge. At the bottom of the pool sat a mysterious wooden box with a keyhole that looked just like their golden key!

That night, they returned with flashlights. Max swam down with the key while Lily kept watch with her spy telescope. The key fit perfectly! Inside the box was a note:

*"To the bravest friends: This pool was magic long ago. When lightning strikes and true friends work together, the water grants one wish. Use it wisely."*

Lily and Max looked at each other, eyes wide. They could wish for anything—ice cream every day, endless video games, or even a treehouse full of toys.

But then Max thought about his grandmother, who missed swimming since she got sick. And Lily thought about the new kid at school who had no friends.

"I wish," they said together, "that everyone who comes to this pool feels happy and makes a new friend!"

The water sparkled, and tiny silver fish appeared, swimming in heart shapes. From that day on, the community pool became the friendliest place in town. The two spies had solved their greatest mystery yet: the best wishes are the ones you share with others.
