The Lightning Pool Magic
Maya pressed her nose against the rainy window, watching bolts of lightning streak across the dark sky like nature's own fireworks. Each flash lit up the backyard pool, making it sparkle like a giant bowl of glitter soup.
'Please don't hit our house,' she whispered, clutching her stuffed rabbit.
Her little brother Leo had been silly that morning, dropping his chewable vitamin tablets into the pool. 'They're fish food now!' he'd giggled. Mom had made a face and promised to clean them later.
Later that night, the most enormous lightning bolt anyone had ever seen flashed — CRACK! BOOM! — and struck something right in their backyard.
When Maya woke up, sunshine poured through her window. She rushed outside and stopped. The pool wasn't blue anymore. It was glowing with soft, rainbow-colored light, and tiny fish made of pure light were swimming in happy circles.
Leo stood there, mouth open. 'My vitamins!'
Maya dipped her hand in the magical water. One of the glowing fish swam right to her fingers and — POOF! — turned into a beautiful crystal that felt warm in her palm. Suddenly, she understood: the lightning had transformed the ordinary vitamins into magical wish-granting creatures!
Together, Maya and Leo spent the whole day making wishes. They wished for their sick grandmother to feel better, for their lonely neighbor to find a friend, for the stray cat in their yard to have a warm home.
Each wish made a fish glow brighter and swim up to the sky, becoming a tiny star that twinkled back at them.
By sunset, all the fish were gone. The pool was just a pool again. But that night, as Maya looked out her window, she saw new stars twinkling overhead — each one a wish that had come true.
Sometimes, she realized, the most magical things come from the most unexpected places. All you need is a little storm, a little imagination, and a lot of heart.
