The Lightning Pool Magic

Lily loved visiting her grandmother's house in Florida. Best of all was the swimming pool in the backyard, but what made it truly special was the ancient palm tree that leaned over it, its fronds creating dancing shadows on the water.

One afternoon, a storm rolled in. Lily watched from the porch as lightning flashed across the sky. Each bolt made the pool glow like a giant jewel. But then she noticed something strange—during each lightning flash, the water didn't just glow. It rippled with colors.

Curious, Lily crept outside in the rain. She stood by the palm tree and watched. Lightning flashed again, and this time she gasped. Tiny glowing fish were swimming in the pool! They had rainbow scales and left trails of light in the water.

"Who are you?" she whispered.

The fish gathered near the edge. One fish popped its head above water. "We're the Storm Fish! We only visit during lightning storms. The magical electricity helps us travel between pools."

Lily wanted to touch one, but her hand was wet from the rain. The fish said, "Hold your palm flat and still. Trust the magic."

She stretched out her palm. A tiny fish jumped right into her hand! It was warm and tickled her skin. Suddenly, she felt a tingle rush through her whole body, like the lightning itself was flowing through her.

"You have the gift," the fish said. "You can see magic wherever there's wonder."

The storm passed, and the fish swam away. But Lily discovered something wonderful—now she could see tiny bits of magic everywhere. In the way dewdrops caught the morning light. In the patterns of leaves. In the smile she shared with her grandmother.

From that day on, Lily knew the real magic wasn't just in lightning or special fish. It was in being curious enough to look for wonder, and brave enough to open your palm and let it in.
