The Lightning Pool Game

Maya and Leo loved playing padel on the court beside the hotel swimming pool. The ball bounced back and forth—thwack, thwack—as palm trees swayed gently in the warm breeze above them.

"I'm going to beat you this time!" Maya called out, swinging her racquet.

But then the sky turned dark purple. Clouds rolled in faster than Maya had ever seen. A brilliant flash of lightning streaked across the sky—CRACK!

"We should go inside," Leo said, eyes wide.

But before they could move, something magical happened. The lightning didn't just fade away. It danced down like glowing ribbons and dipped right into the swimming pool. The water began to shimmer and glow.

"Look!" Maya whispered.

Inside the pool, tiny lights swirled like a galaxy of stars. They weren't scary at all—they were beautiful.

Suddenly, a small creature made entirely of light popped up from the water. It looked like a glowing octopus, but with sparkling eyes.

"Thank you for the lightning gift," the creature bubbled. "I am Lumina, guardian of the Dream Pool. Every hundred years, lightning recharges our magic."

Maya and Leo stared in wonder.

"You have kind hearts," Lumina continued. "You play together with joy. For that, I give you each a wish."

Maya thought carefully. "I wish that everyone who plays padel could feel this happy."

Leo smiled. "And I wish for rainbows after every storm, so people remember something beautiful follows the dark."

Lumina clapped her glowing hands. "Wonderful wishes!"

She splashed back into the water, and the pool burst with rainbow-colored light that swirled up into the clouds. When the storm passed, the most magnificent rainbow curved across the sky.

"Was that real?" Maya asked, hand pressed against her chest.

Leo squeezed her palm. "Does it matter? We'll always remember the magic of choosing kindness."

And from that day on, every time lightning flashed during a storm, Maya and Leo would smile, wondering what dreams were being recharged in secret pools across the world.
