The Lightning Pool Adventure

Max loved summer nights, especially when thunder rumbled like a giant's belly laugh. His golden retriever, Buster, would hide under the bed during storms. But tonight was different.

CRACK! Lightning flashed so bright it turned the backyard daylight-bright. Max rushed to the window, and Buster—at his side, tail wagging—saw something amazing.

The family pool was glowing.

"Look, Buster!" Max whispered.

They crept outside in bare feet. The pool water sparkled like stars captured in liquid. Suddenly, something floated to the surface. Not a leaf. Not a toy.

A zombie.

But this wasn't a scary monster. It was a small, green zombie with round friendly eyes and a rainbow-striped hat. He climbed out of the glowing water and waved.

"Hello!" said the zombie. "I'm Zippy! I've been stuck in the Lightning Realm for 100 years!"

Buster licked Zippy's face. Zippy giggled. "Your dog is very friendly!"

"How did you get here?" Max asked.

"Magic lightning!" Zippy explained. "Every hundred years, lightning creates a portal between worlds. I fell through your pool!"

Max's iPhone, sitting on the patio table, suddenly lit up. Strange symbols scrolled across the screen.

"What's happening?" Max gasped.

"The Lightning World is calling me home," Zippy said sadly. "I can't stay in your world. But I don't want to go back alone."

Max had an idea. "Take pictures with us! We'll remember you forever!"

They posed together—Max, Buster, and Zippy—while the iPhone snapped magical photos. Zippy made funny faces. Buster did tricks. Max smiled so wide his cheeks hurt.

Another lightning bolt struck. The pool glowed brighter.

"Time to go," Zippy said, hugging Max. "Thank you for showing me friendship exists in every world."

"Will we meet again?" Max asked.

"Maybe!" Zippy winked. "Every lightning storm, think of me!"

Zippy dove into the glowing pool and vanished.

The next morning, Max checked his iPhone. The photos showed something incredible—Zippy wasn't green anymore. In every picture, he had normal skin and a big smile.

"Lightning changes things," Max told Buster, scratching behind his ears. "Even zombies just need someone to believe in them."

From then on, whenever thunder rumbled, Max and Buster didn't hide. They waited by the pool, wondering who might visit next, ready to make another unexpected friend.
