The Lightning Pool

Emma lived in a house with a big backyard, but she felt lonely. Every afternoon, she'd swing by herself, wishing for a friend to share her adventures.

One stormy evening, while the rain poured down, Emma spotted something strange in the garden. Where the old kiddie pool usually sat—empty and forgotten—there was now a glowing blue pool of light, shimmering like liquid sapphire. Lightning flashed across the sky, and the pool twinkled in response.

Curious, Emma stepped closer. A small figure made entirely of golden sparks peeked up from the glowing water.

"Hello!" the sparkly creature chirped. "I'm Bolt! I come down whenever the sky gets grumpy with all this thunder. Your pool collects my extra lightning bits!"

Emma gasped. "You're made of lightning?"

Bolt did a joyful somersault, leaving a trail of sparkles. "I'm what happens when lightning meets water! Want to see something magical?"

Bolt dipped into the glowing pool, and suddenly images appeared in the water—children playing, laughing, sharing adventures. Emma saw her neighbor Mei, whom she'd been too shy to talk to.

"Mei needs a friend too," Bolt said softly. "The lightning doesn't like being alone in the sky. Friendship is like lightning—it makes everything brighter!"

The next morning, Emma knocked on Mei's door. "Want to see something amazing in my backyard?" she asked.

When the next storm came, Emma and Mei sat by the ordinary kiddie pool, now filled with rainwater. Lightning flashed—and Bolt appeared, dancing across the water's surface, creating magical shapes and stories in the rain.

"True friends," Bolt whispered, "are like lightning and rain—better together!"

Emma and Mei laughed, chasing the dancing sparks, knowing they'd never be lonely again. And whenever storms came, they'd rush outside, ready for another magical adventure with their lightning friend.
