The Lightning Pool

Lila loved thunderstorms. While other children hid under blankets, she pressed her nose against the window, watching the sky dance.

One rainy afternoon, a bolt of lightning struck the old oak tree in her backyard. CRACK! The ground glowed where it hit. When the rain stopped, Lila ran outside and discovered something magical—a shimmering pool had formed where the lightning struck. But this wasn't ordinary water. It sparkled like captured starlight, and tiny bolts of electricity danced across its surface.

"What are you?" Lila whispered.

The pool rippled. A voice echoed in her mind, like wind chimes: "I am Lightning's Gift. Each drop contains the spark of imagination itself."

Her friend Max appeared, holding a bottle of orange juice. "My mom says this vitamin drink helps you grow strong," he said. "But I think imagination makes you strong too."

The pool sparkled brighter. "Your friend is wise," the voice murmured. "The world has forgotten—imagination is the most important vitamin of all."

Lila and Max exchanged excited glances. "Can we drink from you?" Lila asked.

"Only if you promise to use the magic to help others," the pool replied. "Imagination shared doubles its power. Imagination hoarded withers away."

Together, they cupped their hands and drank. Warmth spread through their chests, and suddenly they could see the magic hidden everywhere—in raindrops making tiny prisms, in flowers singing silent songs, in the way the wind carried stories from distant lands.

They spent the summer using their gift. They drew pictures that came to life, told stories that made sad neighbors smile, and built inventions from junk that actually worked. The more they shared, the stronger the magic grew.

When school started, they worried the magic would fade. But every time they helped a friend or inspired a classmate, they felt that familiar warmth in their hearts. The lightning pool had disappeared, but they carried its greatest lesson: imagination, shared generously, is the most powerful vitamin in the universe.

And sometimes, when a thunderstorm rattled the windows, Lila and Max would smile at each other, knowing the sky was winking at them.
