The Lightning Pool
Lily loved swimming in her grandmother's pool. But tonight, the pool sparkled with tiny lights that danced across the water like fireflies.
"What's happening?" Lily whispered.
Her grandmother smiled. "The lightning pool only appears when magic is needed. Would you like to swim among the stars?"
Lily's eyes grew wide. She dipped her toe into the glowing water. Instead of getting wet, she felt weightless, as if gravity had disappeared. She climbed onto a floating leaf that became bigger and stronger.
"Hold on tight!" called a tiny voice. A lightning bug named Zappy landed on her shoulder. "I'll be your guide!"
The leaf boat lifted from the water, and suddenly Lily wasn't just swimming—she was soaring through an enchanted sky where clouds were made of cotton candy and rivers flowed with stardust.
Below them, the pool had become a mirror reflecting a world of wonder.
"Where are we going?" Lily asked.
"To help a friend," Zappy said, glowing brighter with each word. "The Moon lost her favorite sparkle, and she's too shy to ask for it back."
They spotted the Moon crying silver tears. Her usual glow had dimmed.
Lily reached into her pocket and pulled out something she'd found at the pool's edge earlier—a perfectly smooth, shimmering stone. "Will this help?"
The Moon gasped. "My sparkle!" The stone shot upward and burst into a thousand tiny lights that spread across the night sky.
"Thank you," the Moon beamed, shining brighter than ever. "For your kindness, I give you this gift."
She touched Lily's forehead with a beam of gentle light. "Now, whenever you're swimming in any pool, you'll see magic all around you."
Lily woke up in her bed, the morning sun streaming through her window. Had it all been a dream?
She ran to the pool. There, bobbing gently on the water, was her lightning bug friend, waving.
Some dreams are real, if you believe hard enough.
