The Lightning Pool

cablelightningpool

Lily loved exploring behind her grandmother's old house. One afternoon, while chasing butterflies near the forest edge, she spotted something strange—a thick black cable snaking through the tall grass, disappearing into the woods.

Curious, Lily followed the cable deeper and deeper into the forest. Thunder rumbled overhead as dark clouds gathered. Raindrops began to fall, plinking like tiny bells on the leaves around her.

Suddenly, the cable ended at the edge of a beautiful crystal pool she had never seen before. The water was so clear she could see colorful fish swimming below. But what made Lily gasp was what happened next—

A bolt of lightning flashed across the sky, and for just a moment, she saw that the cable was glowing! It pulsed with golden light, like a vein of magic running through the earth.

"Hello there!" said a voice.

Lily jumped and turned to see a small green frog sitting on a lily pad. The frog had the most brilliant golden eyes she had ever seen.

"I'm Finn!" the frog croaked happily. "You've found my special cable! It catches lightning and keeps my pool warm and magical."

"You can catch lightning?" Lily asked, her eyes wide.

"Well, not exactly," Finn laughed. "The old cable was left here by people long ago. When lightning strikes near it, the energy flows into the pool and makes it glow. It's quite beautiful, really. Would you like to see?"

Another lightning bolt flashed, and sure enough, the cable glowed gold, and the pool began to sparkle with tiny lights like underwater stars. Lily had never seen anything so wonderful.

"Can I visit again?" she asked Finn.

"Of course!" said the frog. "But you must promise to never tell anyone. This is our special secret, and some secrets are worth keeping."

Lily promised, and from that day on, whenever storms rolled through, she would visit Finn and watch the magic lightning pool glow together with her new friend. She learned that the best discoveries are the ones you share with friends, and that magic can be found in the most unexpected places—even at the end of an old cable in the middle of the woods.
