The Lightning Pillow Pyramid

Lily couldn't sleep. Thunder rumbled outside her window, and she clutched her teddy bear, Barnaby, tight. Flash! Lightning painted the sky purple.

"Let's build a pillow pyramid," Lily whispered to Barnaby. She stacked every pillow in the house into a glowing triangle shape in her room. But when she crawled inside—something magical happened.

The pillows transformed into golden stone. She wasn't in her bedroom anymore. She stood before a real pyramid, sparkling under twin moons.

"Groooooaaan," came a voice.

A green figure shuffled toward her—a zombie! But this zombie wore polka-dot pajamas and fuzzy slippers.

"I'm not scary," the zombie said. "I'm Zed. I'm just... really tired. I've been walking for seven years looking for friends."

Lily's iphone suddenly buzzed in her pocket—even though there was no signal here. But when she looked at the screen, it showed a map with a glowing path.

"That's the way to the Friendship Festival!" Zed's eyes lit up. "But I can never find it."

"We'll help you!" Lily said. Barnaby the bear hopped down and started walking on his own.

Together they followed the path through forests of crystal trees and rivers of starlight. Zed told funny jokes. Lily taught him to skip stones. Barnaby led the way when they got lost.

Finally, they reached a meadow filled with dancing creatures of every kind. A unicorn greeted them with a rainbow mane.

"Zed! You made it!" Everyone cheered. No one cared that Zed was a zombie. They just cared that he was kind, funny, and brave.

Lily realized something wonderful: friends come in all shapes and sizes, even ones that might seem scary at first.

When lightning flashed again, Lily was back in her room. Her pillow pyramid glowed softly, and on her pillow sat a small polka-dot friendship bracelet—the same kind Zed had worn.

She fell asleep hugging Barnaby, dreaming of her new friend in his magical world, knowing that true friendship sees with the heart, not just the eyes.
