The Lightning Phone's Magic
Emma rummaged through the dusty attic, her fingers curling around something smooth and cold. It was her father's old iPhone, abandoned years ago. Rain pattered against the roof as she wiped the screen with her shirt.
Suddenly, a brilliant flash of lightning illuminated the attic windows. CRACK! Thunder shook the house. The iPhone screen flickered to life, glowing with a strange purple light that wasn't normal at all.
"Hello?" Emma whispered.
Tiny sparkles drifted from the phone, swirling together to form a miniature girl no bigger than Emma's thumb. The girl had magnificent golden hair that flowed around her like a river of sunlight, even in the dim attic.
"Thank you for freeing me!" the tiny girl chirped. "I'm Sparkle, and I've been trapped in that phone for one hundred years!"
Emma's eyes widened. "A real fairy? But how?"
"Lightning magic," Sparkle explained, her hair crackling with tiny sparks. "A storm trapped me inside, and only another storm could set me free. But now I must return home before the lightning fades!"
Emma scooped up Sparkle and raced downstairs. Outside, the storm raged. Sparkle's hair began to glow brighter, reaching toward the sky like golden antennae.
"I need to call the lightning!" Sparkle cried. "Quick, press the screen!"
Emma tapped the iPhone, which still glowed purple. A bolt of lightning zigzagged downward, but it was gentle, like a ladder made of light. Sparkle's hair streamed upward, connecting with the lightning.
"Thank you, Emma!" Sparkle called as she floated upward, her hair weaving through the lightning bolts like ribbons. "You'll always see me in the storm!"
Emma watched until Sparkle disappeared into the clouds. The rain slowed, and a rainbow arched across the sky.
From that day on, whenever Emma saw lightning flash, she knew her friend was dancing through the storm, her magical hair weaving wonder through the clouds. And sometimes, just sometimes, Emma's old iPhone would flicker with purple light, reminding her that magic exists everywhere—even in the most unexpected places.
