The Lightning Padel Tournament
Lily blinked in the bright sunlight as she stepped onto the cloud. Yes, a cloud! Her new friend Leo had shown her the secret path up the rainbow ladder, and now they stood before the most magical sight she'd ever seen.
The Lightning Padel Court shimmered before them — a glass court floating in the sky, its walls glowing with tiny bolts of lightning that zipped and zapped like excited fireflies. This was where the Sky Children played their most important tournament of the year.
"I'm scared," Lily whispered, clutching her padel racket. "I've never played against real Sky Children. What if I mess up?"
Leo reached into his pocket and pulled out two small orange bottles. "My grandmother gave me these. They're Lightning Vitamins — special vitamins that make you brave as lightning!"
Lily giggled. "Vitamins can't make you brave!"
"These are different," Leo insisted, dropping one into each of their hands. "Grandma says true courage comes from friendship, not from being perfect. These vitamins just help you remember that."
Together, they swallowed the vitamins. Suddenly, Lily felt warm all over, like sunshine was bubbling in her tummy. The lightning in the court walls seemed to dance brighter.
"Ready?" Leo asked.
"Ready!"
The game began. The ball zoomed back and forth, leaving trails of sparkles wherever it bounced. Lily's heart raced with excitement, not fear. Every time she missed a shot, Leo cheered louder. Every time he made a mistake, Lily called out, "Beautiful try!"
The Sky Children watching from the clouds began to clap. They'd never seen players who supported each other so wonderfully!
On the final point, lightning flashed across the sky — CRACK! BOOM! — and the ball transformed into a tiny lightning bolt that bounced perfectly into Lily's racket. She hit it gently, and it arced through the air like a shooting star.
They won!
As the Sky Children presented them with golden medals shaped like lightning bolts, Lily discovered something magical: the vitamins hadn't given her special powers at all. What had made her brave was standing right beside her, grinning with a gap-toothed smile.
"We make a pretty good team," Leo said.
"The best," Lily agreed, watching the lightning dance across the magical court. "And next time, we'll bring extra Lightning Vitamins for the new kids."
Because the real magic wasn't in the vitamins, or even in the lightning. The real magic was having a friend who believes in you, even when you're scared to try something new.
