The Lightning Padel Mystery
Max loved playing padel at the park with his dad. Every Saturday, they'd hit the bright yellow ball back and forth across the blue court. Max wasn't very good yet, but he didn't care. He just loved the sound the ball made—*thwack!*—when it hit his racquet.
One rainy afternoon, Max sneaked back to the padel court alone. The sky rumbled with dark clouds, and fat raindrops splashed his nose. But Max had noticed something strange yesterday. His ball had rolled under the bench, and when he'd reached for it, the ball had glowed.
Now, Max was going to be a spy and solve the mystery.
He reached under the bench and found his yellow padel ball. It wasn't glowing anymore. Maybe he'd imagined it. But then—*CRACK!*—lightning flashed across the sky, and the ball lit up like a tiny golden star!
Max gasped. The ball floated out of his hands and zipped around the court, leaving golden sparkles behind. It bounced off the wire fence, then the ground, then zoomed straight up like it was flying.
"Come back!" Max called, chasing after it.
The ball led him behind the court to a hidden garden he'd never noticed before. In the center stood an enormous tree with silver leaves. The ball settled at its roots, still glowing softly.
An old woman with silver hair appeared from behind the tree. She smiled like she'd been waiting.
"You found it," she said. "The lightning ball. It only wakes up during storms."
"Is it... magic?" Max whispered.
"It's a lightning seed," the woman explained. "It fell from the sky during a storm fifty years ago. It's been waiting for someone who believes in magic to bring it home."
She pointed to a hollow in the tree. The ball rolled inside and instantly, the tree's silver leaves shimmered with golden light. The whole garden glowed.
"Thank you, Max," the woman said. "You're now a keeper of secrets. The lightning tree will protect the park." She handed him a tiny wooden racquet charm. "Take this. Whenever you play padel, you'll have a little bit of lightning magic with you."
Max clutched the charm tight. He couldn't wait to play padel with his dad tomorrow—he'd have the best story to tell, and a little magic to help him win.
