The Lightning Padel

Sophie loved her grandmother's attic, especially on rainy days. The old wooden chest in the corner always smelled like cinnamon and secrets.

One afternoon, while searching for treasure, she found something strange: a wooden paddle carved with swirling symbols. It hummed when she touched it. A faded note read: 'This is a Lightning Padel. Use it wisely.'

Outside, thunder rumbled. Sophie rushed to the window just as a bolt of lightning flashed—straight at the attic!

CRACK!

The lightning bolt didn't strike the roof. It bounced off the Padel in Sophie's hands and turned into a tiny glowing girl no bigger than a thumb.

'Hello!' said the lightning girl, sparkling with energy. 'I'm Lumi. You freed me from the storm cloud!'

Sophie's eyes went wide. 'You're my new friend!'

Lumi bounced around the attic like a happy spark. 'I've been stuck in that cloud for weeks. Storm clouds can be so grumpy. But you—you're brave!'

'I didn't feel brave,' Sophie admitted.

'That's because you need these!' Lumi reached into her pocket and pulled out a handful of glowing orange candies. 'Courage Vitamins! One chew makes you feel like you can do anything.'

Sophie popped one into her mouth. It tasted like sunshine and oranges. Suddenly, her feet felt light, her heart felt strong, and the Padel began to float beside her.

'To the clouds!' Lumi cheered.

Together, they soared out the attic window, riding the magical Padel through the rain. They raced with the wind, danced with the stars, and even tickled a grumpy storm cloud until it rained chocolate sprinkles.

'You're the best friend ever!' Sophie laughed, diving through a rainbow.

When they returned to the attic, Sophie knew the Courage Vitamins hadn't made her brave at all. Being with a friend—believing in each other—was the real magic.

'Come back tomorrow?' Lumi asked, curling up in the Padel's carved hollow.

'Every storm,' Sophie promised. 'Every single one.'
