The Lightning Keeper's Secret
Mia always hid under her blanket during thunderstorms. The rumbling made her tummy feel wobbly, and the bright flashes hurt her eyes even through closed lids.
But tonight, something magical happened.
CRASH!
A lightning bolt struck right in her backyard. Mia peeked through her window. Instead of a burnt patch of grass, she saw a tiny creature with silver skin and hair that crackled like static electricity. He was holding a glass jar, catching the last bits of fading light from the grass.
Mia tiptoed outside. "Who are you?"
The creature spun around, his skin shimmering. "I'm Zapp! I'm a Lightning Keeper!" He held up the jar. Inside, the captured lightning glowed like a little star.
"But... lightning is scary," Mia said, stepping closer anyway.
Zapp giggled. "Only if you don't know its secret!" He pulled another jar from his pocket. "This is my special lightning vitamin."
"Lightning can be a vitamin?"
"Sure!" Zapp sprinkled a pinch of glowing dust onto Mia's mom's prize tomato plant. The plant straightened up instantly, leaves greener than ever. Tiny tomatoes appeared and grew round and red in seconds.
Mia gasped. "It's magic!"
"It's friendship with the sky," Zapp said. "Storms aren't scary—they're just the clouds sharing their energy. Lightning carries extra sunshine and rain power all mixed together. It's a vitamin for the earth!"
From that night on, Mia wasn't afraid of storms anymore. She learned that even things that seem scary at first can be wonderful friends in disguise. And whenever she saw lightning flash, she'd whisper, "Thank you, Zapp!" knowing somewhere, a tiny Lightning Keeper was collecting magic to help the world grow stronger and brighter.
And the best part? Zapp wasn't just a storm friend anymore. He became Mia's everyday friend too, visiting on sunny days to share stories from the clouds and teach her that the most magical discoveries often come from the things we're afraid to explore.
