The Lightning Keeper's Secret

Lily loved watching summer storms from her bedroom window. The way the sky would turn purple, then crack open with brilliant streaks of lightning. But tonight was different. Tonight, the lightning didn't just flash across the sky—it danced.

A single bolt spiraled down like a glittering ribbon, landing right in her backyard. Where it struck, a tiny golden pyramid rose from the grass, no bigger than a shoebox. It hummed with a warm, honey-colored light.

"You found it!" a whisper came from behind the oak tree.

Lily jumped. A boy her age stepped out, wearing a cloak that seemed to change color with each lightning flash. "I'm Oliver. I've been waiting for someone like you."

"Like me?" Lily's heart beat faster.

"Someone who isn't afraid of the storm." Oliver knelt beside the pyramid. "This is a Lightning Keeper. It catches lightning and stores it for dark nights. But it only works for true friends."

"Friends?" Lily touched the pyramid's warm surface. It pulsed under her fingers like a heartbeat.

"The lightning chooses its keeper carefully," Oliver explained, his silver eyes twinkling. "I've been watching houses for weeks. You're the first one who didn't run away when the sky got dark."

Lily realized something. "You're a spy!"

"A lightning spy," Oliver grinned. "I work for the Storm Council. We need someone brave to help us catch the best lightning bolts. Want to be our friend?"

The pyramid glowed brighter, as if answering. Outside, thunder rumbled softly, like a purring cat.

Lily took Oliver's hand. Together, they watched the storm paint the sky with light, and somewhere in the distance, more pyramids began to glow.
