The Lightning Keeper's Padel
Lily found the old padel in her grandmother's attic, tucked inside a velvet-lined box. Unlike her regular racquet, this one shimmered like captured moonlight.
"That," her grandmother whispered, eyes twinkling, "is a Lightning Keeper's padel. It catches magic from the sky."
Lily's heart raced. She'd heard stories of the Crystal Pyramid that floated among the clouds, catching starlight and sprinkling it across the world each night. But lately, the stars had grown dim.
"The pyramid needs lightning to recharge," Grandma explained. "Tonight's storm is the last chance before all the stars go dark forever."
Lily gripped the magical padel as thunder rumbled outside. Lightning flashed—a jagged ribbon of purple and gold. She swung the padel, and *whoosh!* The lightning bounced into the glowing wooden surface, wriggling like a captured firefly.
"Quickly!" Grandma called. "To the roof!"
They climbed through the window as rain pattered around them. Above, storm clouds swirled, and there it was—the Crystal Pyramid, pulsing faintly like a heartbeat in need.
A tiny lightning bug zipped past, leaving golden trails. "Follow me!" it seemed to chirp.
Lily's hands trembled as she raised the padel. Another lightning bolt crackled downward. *THWACK!* She caught it perfectly. The padel blazed brilliant white, illuminating the whole rooftop.
"Now! Throw it to the pyramid!" Grandma urged.
Lily spun and released the captured lightning. It arced upward, a perfect spiral of light, and struck the Crystal Pyramid. *FLASH!* The pyramid blazed to life, sending ripples of starlight across the dark sky. Stars flickered back to existence, one by one, then by the hundreds.
The lightning bug landed on Lily's shoulder, glowing warm and bright.
"You did it," Grandma beamed, hugging her tight. "You're a Lightning Keeper now."
That night, Lily fell asleep watching her stars—her stars—twinkle overhead, the magical padel safely under her bed, waiting for the next adventure.
