The Lightning Keeper's Gift

Maya loved two things: climbing the old palm tree behind her house and collecting colorful seashells. But during thunderstorms, she hid under her blanket. Lightning frightened her with its jagged fingers across the sky.

One rainy afternoon, Maya's grandmother handed her a small orange bottle. "These are special vitamins," she said with a wink. "They give you courage."

Maya swallowed one. But instead of feeling brave, she felt strange—tingly and warm, like sunshine bubbling inside her.

That evening, the biggest storm of the year cracked open the sky. Maya's palm started glowing golden! She rushed to the window and saw something incredible: a tiny lightning bolt, no bigger than a firefly, was tapping on her window.

"Please let me in!" the little spark squeaked. "I'm lost!"

Maya's hands trembled, but she opened the window. The tiny lightning landed gently on her palm, making it sparkle like a star. "I'm Flash," the spark said. "I fell from the sky during the storm. I need to get home before the Big Lightning closes the gate!"

"I'll help you!" Maya said, her fear replaced by wonder.

She climbed the palm tree, Flash glowing warmly in her hand. At the very top, through a break in the clouds, she saw the Lightning Kingdom—a castle made entirely of twinkling bolts.

Flash leaped from her palm, joining his family. But before he left, he touched Maya's hand one last time. "Thank you for your courage," he whispered. "Whenever you're scared, just look at your palm. You'll carry a piece of lightning's bravery forever."

Now, during every storm, Maya stands at her window, palm outstretched, watching the lightning dance. She's not afraid anymore. She knows that even the brightest light sometimes needs help finding its way home—and friendship is the best vitamin for a brave heart.
