The Lightning Hat's Magic
Lily loved her old red hat more than anything. It had belonged to her grandmother, and Lily wore it everywhere — even when running through the meadow behind her house.
One summer evening, as Lily was running home before a storm, something amazing happened. A bolt of lightning flashed across the dark purple sky, and — CRACK! — it struck her hat!
Lily fell to the grass, her curly hair standing straight up like little lightning bolts all over her head. But she didn't feel hurt. Instead, she felt… sparkly. Magical. Like a bottle of vitamin sunshine had burst open inside her.
She stood up slowly and noticed tiny glowing lights floating around her. They looked like little stars, each one a different color. A soft blue light whispered to her: "Take me home with you, and you'll be able to run as fast as the wind!" A pink light giggled: "Pick me, and you'll make friends wherever you go!"
Lily realized these were magic vitamins — gifts from the lightning! But there were dozens of them, all floating and waiting.
"I can't choose just one," Lily said. "That wouldn't be fair."
So she did something surprising. She opened her backpack and caught ALL the little lights, then ran through her neighborhood sharing them. She gave the speed light to her friend Tim, who always came last in races. She gave the kindness light to her grumpy neighbor, Mr. Higgins. She gave the courage light to her little brother, who was afraid of the dark.
That night, Lily's hair still glowed softly with leftover magic. She lay in bed watching the lightning flash outside and smiled. She had learned something wonderful: real magic wasn't about keeping powers for yourself. It was about sharing them.
And from that day on, every time Lily wore her red hat, her hair would sparkle just a little bit — reminding her that the best adventures are the ones we share with friends.
