The Lightning Hat

Max loved his blue wizard hat more than anything. It had silver stars that glowed in the dark, and he believed it gave him magical powers.

One stormy afternoon, Max sat by the window watching lightning flash across the sky. Dad's old iPhone sat beside him, displaying his favorite zombie adventure game. The green cartoon zombie on screen looked lonely.

"I wish you could come out and play," Max whispered, tapping the screen.

CRACK! Lightning struck the big oak tree in the yard. Sparks flew like tiny fireflies.

Max's wizard hat began to tingle. His iPhone screen shimmered like moonlight on water. Suddenly, the little zombie popped out of the phone!

He wasn't scary at all. He was small and green, with one tooth and a friendly smile. He wore a tiny orange scarf around his neck.

"Hello!" said the zombie. "I'm Zed! Thank you for wishing me out!"

Max's eyes widened. "You're real!"

"Your magic hat helped," Zed said, pointing to Max's head. "And the lightning gave me the extra spark I needed!"

Max remembered the orange he'd saved from lunch. "Would you like an orange? It's sweet and juicy."

Zed had never tasted an orange before. His eyes lit up as he peeled it. The citrus scent filled the room, mixing with the fresh rain smell from the open window.

"This is wonderful!" Zed cheered. "In my game, everything is gray and gloomy. But here, everything is bright and colorful!"

They spent the afternoon playing board games and sharing stories. Zed explained that zombies weren't scary - they were just lonely and needed friends.

As the storm faded, Zed looked sad. "I have to go back now. But I'll never forget our friendship."

"Visit me again!" Max called, waving his wizard hat.

Zed smiled and dissolved into sparkles, back into the iPhone screen.

That night, Max fell asleep with his wizard hat on, dreaming of orange skies and lightning adventures. He learned that sometimes the scariest things just need a friend - and a little magic can change everything.

The orange peel on Max's nightstand glowed softly, proving it had all been real.
