The Lightning Goldfish's Secret

Leo loved baseball more than anything. Every day after school, he would run to the dusty field behind his house to practice hitting. But Leo had a problem – he could never hit the ball past the infield.

One rainy afternoon, as Leo sat on the bench watching the storm clouds gather, he noticed something peculiar. A tiny goldfish was swimming in a puddle near home plate!

"Hello there," Leo said, kneeling down. "How did you get here?"

Suddenly, a bolt of lightning struck the old oak tree nearby, and when Leo looked back at the puddle, the goldfish was glowing with a soft golden light!

"I'm the Lightning Goldfish," the fish said in a voice like distant thunder. "I've been waiting for someone with a kind heart. Leo, I have a secret for you."

The goldfish told Leo about a magical patch of spinach growing behind the backstop. "Eat three leaves before your game tomorrow, and you'll hit the farthest home run anyone has ever seen. But remember – true magic is meant to be shared."

The next day, Leo's friend Marcus joined him for practice. Marcus was the best player on their team, but today he looked worried. "I haven't been hitting well lately," he admitted. "What if I let everyone down during the big game?"

Leo thought about the Lightning Goldfish's words. That afternoon, he found the magical spinach patch and ate three leaves. His arms tingled with energy!

During the championship game, Leo hit home runs easily. But when Marcus came up to bat and struck out, looking miserable, Leo knew what he had to do.

"Marcus! Come here!" Leo pulled his friend behind the backstop. "Try some of this spinach I found. It's really fresh and crunchy."

Marcus ate the leaves and his eyes widened. When he stepped back to the plate, he hit the ball so far it landed in the parking lot! Their team won the championship!

Afterward, Leo looked for the Lightning Goldfish to say thank you, but the puddle was empty. All that remained was a single golden scale, shimmering like a tiny piece of lightning.

Leo smiled, understanding the real magic. It wasn't the spinach that made them champions – it was friendship, kindness, and believing in each other.
