The Lightning Goldfish's Pyramid Quest

Mia loved her pet goldfish, Barnaby, who swam in circles around his plastic castle. But tonight, as thunder rattled her bedroom window, Barnaby did something impossible—he floated to the surface and spoke!

"Mia! The pyramid needs us!"

Outside, lightning crackled across the sky like glittery veins. Barnaby's scales began to glow with the same electric light. Suddenly, Mia's toy pyramid—the one Grandpa had brought from Egypt—started pulsing with orange light.

"Quick! Touch it!" Barnaby bubbled.

Mia pressed her palm against the tiny pyramid. WHOOSH! Her bedroom dissolved into golden swirls. When she opened her eyes, she stood inside a massive stone pyramid.

Barnaby floated beside her, now the size of a dolphin. "The Pharaoh's Orange Gem has been stolen," he explained. "Without it, the desert will turn to dust forever."

They raced through corridors where hieroglyphics danced on walls. In the treasure room, a jackal-headed guard blocked their path.

"Only those with pure hearts may pass," the guardian rumbled.

Mia thought of sharing her lunch with lonely classmates. "I try to be kind."

The guard bowed and vanished.

In the center sat the Orange Gem—a crystal the size of a grapefruit, pulsing like a tiny sun. But as Mia reached for it, the ground shook. A thief

—actually a very lonely sphinx—appeared.

"I only wanted friends," the sphinx cried. "The gem's warmth was the only comfort I had."

Mia looked at the Orange Gem, then at the sphinx's sad eyes. "We can be friends," she said. "But the desert needs the gem."

"You'd... be my friend?" The sphinx's eyes widened.

Mia nodded. "Forever."

The sphinx smiled and returned the gem. As Mia placed it back, orange light swept through the pyramid, and she found herself back in her room.

Barnaby was normal-sized again, swimming peacefully. But now a tiny orange crystal sat beside his bowl—the Pharaoh's gift for a heart of gold.

Mia learned that day: the brightest treasure isn't gold or gems, but kindness shared with unexpected friends.
