The Lightning Goldfish's Golden Wish
Lily loved spending summer days at her grandmother's house, where the garden held magical secrets. But nothing was more magical than the old pond behind the house, where a very special goldfish lived.
Unlike ordinary goldfish, this one could talk! His name was Finn, and his scales shimmered like tiny lightning bolts whenever he was excited.
"Lily!" Finn bubbled one sunny morning. "I need your help! The Magic Papaya Tree only blooms during summer storms, and tonight there will be lightning! I need one golden papaya to make my special vitamin potion that keeps my magic alive."
Lily's eyes widened. "But that means swimming in the pond during a storm!"
Finn nodded sadly. "I know it's scary. But without the potion, I'll lose my ability to talk and glow. I'll just be a regular fish again."
That night, Lily watched from her window as lightning flashed across the sky. Rain poured down, but she remembered her friend Finn, waiting alone in the dark pond. Taking a deep breath, she grabbed her raincoat and ran outside.
The pond water was choppy, but Lily started swimming anyway. With each stroke, she imagined herself as brave as a mermaid. Lightning illuminated the way to the small island in the center, where the single papaya tree grew.
She reached the island just as a massive lightning bolt struck nearby! The electricity pulsed through the tree, and suddenly, the papaya began to glow golden yellow.
Lily grabbed the magical fruit and swam back as fast as she could. Finn was waiting.
"You did it!" Finn exclaimed, his scales sparkling brighter than ever. "You were so brave!"
Lily smiled as she watched Finn mix the papaya into his vitamin potion. "That's what friends do. They help each other, even when it's scary."
From that day on, whenever lightning flashed during summer storms, Lily would smile, remembering that courage isn't about not being afraid—it's about helping friends anyway.
