The Lightning Goldfish
Lily was bored. It was another rainy afternoon, and she was stuck inside watching her little goldfish, Goldie, swim circles in his bowl.
Suddenly—FLASH!—a bolt of lightning struck right outside her window. CRACK! The whole house shook.
When Lily opened her eyes, something magical was happening. Goldie was glowing! His orange scales sparkled like tiny stars, and suddenly he jumped right out of his bowl!
"Lily!" Goldie said. "The lightning gave me magic powers! Let's go on an adventure!"
Lily's eyes grew wide. A talking fish? This was the best thing ever!
Goldie led her to the backyard, where the rain had filled the old swimming pool. But this wasn't just any pool anymore—the water was shimmering with rainbow colors.
"This is the Magic Pool," Goldie explained. "It leads to enchanted worlds!"
They jumped in together, and—WHOOSH!—they found themselves in a land made entirely of candy.
Just then, a sad-looking zombie shuffled toward them. But this wasn't a scary zombie. He wore a polka-dot bow tie and had flowers tucked behind his ears.
"Hello," said the zombie softly. "I'm Zeb. Everyone runs away from me because I'm a zombie. But I'm very lonely. All I want is a friend."
Lily looked at Goldie, and Goldie looked at Lily. They both smiled.
"We'll be your friend!" Lily said. "Want to explore Candy Land with us?"
Zeb's face lit up. "Really?"
For hours, the three new friends had the most wonderful adventure. They climbed licorice trees, slid down chocolate mountains, and drank from lemonade springs. Zeb told funny jokes, Goldie did tricks, and Lily laughed so much her tummy hurt.
When it was time to go home, Goldie used his lightning magic to transport them back.
"Thank you," Zeb said, giving Lily a gentle hug. "You taught me that true friends look with their hearts, not their eyes."
Lily waved goodbye as Goldie swam back into his bowl. She touched the glass, and Goldie did a little flip.
Some days, Lily still visits Zeb in the Magic Pool. She learned that the best adventures aren't just about magical places—they're about opening your heart to unexpected friends.
