The Lightning Goldfish

Emma loved to sit beneath the old palm tree in her backyard, especially during storms. While others hid indoors, she watched the sky dance.

One rainy afternoon, a flash of lightning struck so close that the ground shook. When Emma opened her eyes, she gasped. In the palm of her hand swam a tiny goldfish—glowing like a miniature sun!

"Hello!" said the goldfish. "My name is Finn. I'm a lightning fish."

Emma's eyes widened. "You can talk?"

"Only to special friends," Finn bubbled. "I was swimming through the clouds when your lightning called me down. You have the kindest heart I've ever felt."

Every day after school, Emma visited Finn, who lived in a magical jar filled with sparkling water. Finn told her stories about cloud kingdoms, rainbow bridges, and starfish that glowed like diamonds.

But Finn missed his home in the sky. "The lightning is my family," he said sadly.

Emma knew what she had to do. That evening, during the biggest storm of the year, she climbed her palm tree and held Finn toward the clouds.

"Go home, Finn," she whispered, tears mixing with rain. "But visit me sometimes?"

Finn glowed brighter than ever. "Real friends are never far apart. Watch for my lightning!"

He shot upward like a golden comet, becoming a beautiful bolt of lightning that zigzagged across the sky.

Now, whenever storms come, Emma watches for Finn's special lightning—a golden flash that dances and sparkles unlike any other. And she knows that the best friends may be far away, but they're always close in your heart.
