The Lightning Goldfish

lightningzombiegoldfish

Ten-year-old Max pressed his nose against the fishbowl, watching his goldfish, Splash, float lazily through the water. "You're the best fish ever," Max whispered, even though Splash couldn't hear him through the glass.

Outside, the summer sky turned purple and green. Thunder rumbled like a giant tummy growling. CRACK! A bolt of lightning flashed so bright it lit up Max's whole room.

Suddenly, something strange happened. Splash began to glow—a tiny golden light shimmering inside his fishbowl. Max gasped as Splash swam faster and faster, creating little whirlpools. Then, in a puff of sparkly bubbles, Splash leaped right out of his bowl!

But Splash didn't flop on the floor like a normal fish. Instead, he floated in mid-air, surrounded by a magical golden aura. He wiggled his fins as if swimming through invisible water.

"You're like a... a zombie fish!" Max exclaimed. "A fish that came back to life, but better!"

Splash bubbled happily and darted around Max's room, leaving a trail of golden sparkles wherever he went. Max laughed and chased after his magical friend. They zoomed out the window, Splash glowing like a tiny shooting star.

Together, they soared through the stormy night. Lightning flashed around them, but Max felt safe with Splash glowing warmly beside him. They danced through rain clouds and raced with the wind.

"I wish every night could be like this," Max said as they floated back to his room.

Splash swam circles around Max, then nudged him with a wet, fishy kiss on the cheek. Max understood—special adventures are wonderful because they don't happen every day.

As Max climbed back into bed, Splash gently floated back into his fishbowl. The golden glow faded, but something had changed. Now, whenever Max looked at Splash, he could see a tiny spark of lightning magic in his fish's eyes.

"Good night, my magical friend," Max whispered, and as thunder rumbled softly in the distance, he knew the best adventures are the ones you share with a friend.
