The Lightning Garden Surprise

Leo loved baseball more than anything. Every day after school, he'd grab his glove and run to the park. But today was different. A summer storm was coming!

"Leo!" his friend Maya called, waving from her garden. "Look what grew overnight!"

Leo ran over, his baseball glove still on his hand. In Maya's garden stood enormous **spinach** plants—taller than both kids! The leaves shimmered like emeralds.

"They're magic plants!" Maya said. "Grandma says they grow during storms. Want to climb?"

Leo hesitated. He'd rather practice his swing. But then he saw something sparkle at the top of the tallest plant.

Up they climbed, hand over hand, until they reached the top. The sparkle wasn't a bug at all—it was a tiny glowing creature no bigger than Leo's **palm**.

"I'm Pulse!" the creature said. "And I need your help!"

Pulse explained he was a storm fairy who had lost his **lightning** powers. He needed to recharge before tonight's big storm, or the rain would never come.

"How can we help?" Maya asked.

"I need three things," Pulse said. "Something strong, something full of energy, and something that brings joy!"

Leo thought hard. Then he had an idea!

He pulled something from his pocket—his favorite **baseball** card. "This makes me happy!" he said. The card glowed in Pulse's tiny hands.

Maya remembered something too. She grabbed a **vitamin** gummy from her snack pack. "This gives me energy!" Pulse's wings flickered.

But what was strong? Leo looked at the enormous spinach plants around them. "**Spinach**!" he cried. "It makes you strong, just like Popeye says!"

Maya laughed and plucked a leaf. Pulse took a tiny bite and—ZAP!

Crack! Boom! The sky opened up with beautiful **lightning**, and rain poured down on the garden. Pulse grew bigger and brighter.

"Thank you, friends!" Pulse zoomed into the clouds, painting them with rainbow colors.

Leo and Maya slid down the spinach stem, laughing as they splashed in puddles. The storm wasn't scary at all—it was magical!

"Next time," Leo said, "we climb together, okay?" Maya nodded. Some adventures were better with friends.
