The Lightning Garden's Secret
Lily loved the old garden behind her house. Most people thought it was dead—brown leaves, droopy flowers, and twisted vines that looked like sleeping fingers. But Lily knew better.
One evening, as purple clouds gathered overhead, Lily noticed something strange. The garden seemed to shimmer. A faint green glow pulsed from beneath the wilted rosebushes.
CRACK! Lightning flashed across the sky, striking the old oak tree nearby. Rain poured down in silver sheets.
Suddenly, the garden began to move. The brown leaves turned emerald. The droopy flowers lifted their heads, opening petals that sparkled like tiny stars. The twisted vines unwound, reaching toward Lily with gentle curiosity.
A small figure stepped out from behind the roses—a creature made of vines and moonlight, with flower-petal eyes and a smile like morning dew.
"I'm Zom," the creature said softly. "I'm the garden zombie. I sleep when the sun is hot, but lightning wakes me up."
Lily wasn't afraid. "You're beautiful!"
Zom smiled, and wherever they stepped, new flowers bloomed—instantly. "Most people run away when they hear 'zombie.' But a true friend sees with their heart, not just their ears."
Together, they danced through the magical garden as lightning painted the sky in brilliant streaks of gold and violet. Zom showed Lily how the garden wasn't dead at all—just waiting for the right moment to wake up.
"Everything has its season," Zom explained. "Even things that seem gone forever are just resting, like seeds in winter."
As dawn approached, Zom grew sleepy. "Thank you for being my friend," the garden zombie whispered. "Come back during the next storm. I'll be waiting."
Lily watched as Zom and the magical garden slowly faded back into their sleepy brown form. But now she knew the truth—sometimes the most wonderful surprises are just waiting for someone brave enough to see them.
And every time she saw the old garden, Lily smiled, knowing her friend was there, dreaming of lightning and friendship.
