The Lightning Garden's Secret

Lily loved helping her grandmother in their small garden behind the old blue house. Every Saturday, they would plant seeds, water flowers, and pull weeds. But there was one patch of plants that grandmother never let Lily touch.

"These are special," Grandma said, pointing to a row of vibrant green plants. "This is lightning spinach."

Lily giggled. "Spinach doesn't have lightning, Grandma!"

Grandma winked. "Wait until midnight on the next full moon."

Lily could hardly wait. When the full moon finally arrived, she tiptoed outside at exactly midnight. What she saw made her gasp!

The spinach plants were glowing! Tiny bolts of lightning danced between the leaves like little sparklers. The plants seemed to hum with energy.

"Beautiful, isn't it?" Grandma appeared behind her with a smile. "This magical spinach gives anyone who eats it a special gift — the power to make things grow."

"But why keep it a secret?" Lily asked.

"Because power must be used wisely," Grandma explained. "Now, taste this orange — it grew from lightning spinach seeds. It contains a special vitamin that helps plants grow strong."

Lily took a bite. The orange was the sweetest she had ever tasted, and she felt a warm tingle spread through her fingers.

"Now," Grandma said, pointing to a drooping sunflower nearby, "try using your gift."

Lily gently touched the sunflower and imagined it standing tall. Instantly, the flower perked up, its leaves stretching toward the moon.

"Wow!" Lily whispered. "Can I help all the plants?"

"Only the ones that need help," Grandma said. "And remember — the best magic is kindness."

That night, Lily and Grandma worked together, helping weak plants grow strong. Lily realized that real magic wasn't about power — it was about caring for living things.

From then on, Lily became the guardian of the lightning garden, using her special gift wisely and teaching others that the greatest vitamin for the soul is kindness.
