The Lightning Garden Magic

Lily hated spinach. Every dinner, her mom said, "Eat your greens, they'll make you strong!" But Lily just pushed the leaves around her plate.

One stormy afternoon, Lily sat in the garden with her dad's old iphone, playing games while thunder rumbled overhead. Rain dripped down her nose as she tapped the screen. Suddenly, a bolt of lightning flashed across the sky!

CRACK!

The lightning struck the garden fence right where the spinach patch grew. Lily's iphone glowed with magical purple light. When she touched the screen, tiny green spinach leaves began to grow rapidly from the phone!

"Whoa!" Lily whispered.

The spinach leaves kept growing and growing until they formed a little ladder. Lily climbed up the spinach ladder and discovered she could see into the future through her phone screen. She saw her little brother Tommy would fall off his swing tomorrow unless someone helped him.

"I have to save Tommy!" Lily said.

The spinach leaves whispered back, "We'll help you, Lily. Spinach gives you power when you need it most."

The next day, Lily rushed to the playground. When Tommy started to slip from the swing, she was there to catch him. Her mom was amazed.

"How did you know he would fall?" she asked.

Lily smiled. "The spinach told me!"

That night, Lily ate all her spinach without complaint. She even asked for seconds.

"I like spinach now," Lily said. "It's not just food. It's magic!"

Her dad laughed. "Whatever works, sweet pea. Whatever works."

Now whenever lightning storms come, Lily runs to the garden with her iphone, ready for another magical adventure. She learned that sometimes the things we think are boring might be hiding the most wonderful secrets of all.
