The Lightning Garden
Max hated spinach. Every time his mom put those green leaves on his plate, he made a face and pushed them away. But everything changed the night a peculiar lightning storm struck his neighborhood.
The lightning hit their community garden with a CRACK! When Max ran to check the damage the next morning, he discovered something amazing. The spinach patch was glowing — literally shimmering with tiny sparks of green light!
An old woman named Grandma Willow appeared between the tomato plants. She wore a purple cloak and knew things. "This is Lightning Spinach," she whispered, her eyes twinkling. "It only grows when lightning strikes just right. It's packed with the most powerful vitamin ever — Vitamin Wonder!"
Max tried a single leaf. ZAP! He could suddenly understand what the squirrels were chattering about in the oak tree. He could feel the tomato plants' joy in the morning sun. He had super listening powers!
With his new abilities, Max heard a sad cry from the woods. A baby fox was trapped beneath a fallen branch! Using his enhanced senses and the spinach-fueled energy, Max guided his dad right to the frightened creature.
"You saved me!" chirped the fox. "How did you find me?"
Max smiled. "I ate my spinach!"
That night, Max discovered that the best vitamins don't just come from bottles. They come from the earth, from sunshine, from rain — and sometimes from lightning strikes. The real magic wasn't the glowing leaves or the super powers. The real magic was using your gifts to help others.
Now Max eats his spinach every day. Not every bowl glows, but he knows that inside those green leaves are tiny sparks of magic waiting to make him strong enough to be a hero.
