The Lightning Garden
Ten-year-old Leo hated spinach more than anything in the world. "Eat your greens," his grandmother would say, but Leo always snuck them to the dog.
One stormy evening, Leo was playing games on his iPhone when lightning struck their backyard. CRACK! The power went out, but Leo's screen began to glow strangely. Words appeared: "THE GARDEN NEEDS YOU."
Curious, Leo crept outside through the rain. His grandmother's vegetable garden was shimmering with silver light, especially the spinach patch. As he watched, the spinach leaves began to grow and twist together, forming a swirling green doorway.
A massive bull stepped through – but not an ordinary bull. This one was made entirely of lightning, with crackling golden horns and eyes like summer stars.
"Thank goodness!" the Lightning Bull spoke in a rumbly voice like distant thunder. "Our realm is fading. Children have stopped believing in magic, and without wonder, our world disappears."
Leo's eyes widened. "But I'm just a kid. How can I help?"
"Your spinach plants are magical gateways," the bull explained. "But only someone who discovers magic by accident – like you – can truly see it. Will you help me restore wonder to children's hearts?"
Leo nodded, his heart pounding with excitement. "What do I do?"
"Hold this." The bull gave him a single spinach leaf, now glowing with rainbow light. "Plant it wherever children gather. The magic will spread."
That night, Leo planted enchanted spinach leaves at his school, the park, and the library. Soon, children everywhere began noticing magical things – flowers that hummed, trees that told stories, and friendly lightning creatures playing in storm clouds.
Now when Leo eats spinach, he smiles. Not because he likes the taste, but because every bite reminds him of the Lightning Bull and the day he learned that magic exists for anyone who keeps their heart open to wonder.
