The Lightning Garden

Lily loved helping her grandmother in the garden. Every Saturday, they would plant seeds and pull weeds together. But today was different. Grandma pointed to a strange old cable buried near the rose bushes.

"That cable hasn't worked in fifty years," Grandma said. "But maybe you can make it magical."

Lily pulled the dusty cable from the earth. It was covered in spiderwebs and looked like an old snake. She gave it a gentle tug. Suddenly, the ground began to glow! A tiny door appeared in the dirt, and out popped a small green creature with leafy hair.

"I'm Sprout!" the creature squeaked. "Will you be my friend?"

Lily nodded eagerly. Sprout explained that he lived underground and protected the garden's magic. But he was sad because his home was flooding. The water from yesterday's storm had filled his underground world.

"I can help!" Lily cried. She followed Sprout through the tiny door into a magical cavern filled with glowing crystals. But Sprout was right – water was everywhere, rising higher every minute.

Sprout led her to a wall of vines. "The only way to stop the water is to eat these special spinach leaves," he explained. "But they taste terrible!"

Lily tried one and made a face. It was yucky! But then she had an idea. She ran back upstairs and returned with her grandma's blender, fruit, and honey. Together, she and Sprout made delicious green smoothies.

As they drank, something amazing happened. Lightning bolts made of pure green energy shot from their fingertips! The magic lightning zapped through the water, making it sparkle and shrink. Soon, all the water had turned into beautiful rainbow crystals.

Sprout hugged Lily. "You saved my home!" he cheered. "And you taught me that even yucky things can be wonderful with a little creativity."

Grandma was amazed when Lily returned with a pocketful of rainbow crystals. From that day on, Lily and Sprout were the best of friends, having adventures whenever lightning flashed across the sky.
