The Lightning Game Friend
Emma sat by her window, watching the storm outside. Lightning flashed across the sky like giant sparklers. She pressed her face against the glass, feeling the cold rain tap against the other side.
In her hand, she clutched her iPhone, playing her favorite game, ZOMBIE GARDEN. The game had colorful cartoon zombies who loved flowers more than brains. They danced and sang instead of moaning.
CRACK! The biggest lightning bolt yet struck right outside Emma's house. The room filled with blinding white light.
Her iPhone buzzed and glowed. Then something impossible happened. A little green zombie popped right out of the screen!
He was only as tall as Emma's hand, with floppy purple petals on his head instead of rotting skin. He wobbled on tiny legs and smiled.
"Hi!" Emma gasped. "You're... you're REAL!"
The little zombie nodded. "I'm Zippy! The lightning magic brought me to life!"
Zippy wasn't scary at all. He was playful and curious. Emma spent the whole night showing him her room. They built a blanket fort and shared cookies. Zippy had never tasted anything sweet before — he did a happy dance when the chocolate chips melted on his tongue!
"In my game, zombies just want friends," Zippy said sadly. "But everyone runs away because they think we're scary."
Emma smiled. "They're wrong. You're the best friend I've ever made."
The storm passed, but Zippy stayed. He learned about the real world from Emma, and she learned that sometimes the most wonderful friends come from the most unexpected places.
Emma's iPhone became magical too. Every time lightning struck nearby, Zippy could visit his game friends and bring them out for adventures. They weren't monsters anymore — they were just lonely creatures who needed someone to see past their appearances.
The next day at school, Emma told her classmates the truth: "Don't judge someone by how they look. My best friend is a zombie, and he's kinder than anyone I know."
And that's how Emma learned that real friendship isn't about what you expect — it's about keeping your heart open to magic, especially when lightning strikes.
