The Lightning Game

Lily loved playing padel with her grandfather. Every Saturday afternoon, they'd meet at the old court near the orange grove, where the sweet scent of citrus filled the air.

One stormy afternoon, dark clouds gathered above them. CRACK! A bolt of lightning struck the old oak tree beside the court, and something extraordinary happened. The lightning didn't disappear – it danced!

A tiny figure made of sparkling electricity hopped onto the padel court. It was Lightning, a magical creature who loved games as much as Lily did.

"Play with me!" Lightning zipped, bouncing between the walls like a glowing ball.

Grandfather smiled. "Some magic only appears during storms, little one."

Lily pulled out her iPhone to capture the moment, but Lightning was too fast – appearing only as a golden blur in her photos. Laughing, they played the most wonderful game of padel ever, with Lightning as their bouncing ball.

Suddenly, a loud snort came from behind the orange trees. A massive bull stepped into view, his horns gleaming.

Lily froze, but Grandfather placed a gentle hand on her shoulder. "That's just Barnaby. He's escaped from the farm next door."

Barnaby wasn't scary at all. The old bull watched their game with curious brown eyes, and when Lightning zipped past his nose, Barnaby gave a happy moo and tried to chase the sparkly creature around the court.

Lightning loved having a new playmate. Together, the three of them – Lily, Lightning, and Barnaby – played the most magical game anyone had ever seen, while orange blossoms swirled around them like tiny golden snowflakes.

When the rain began to fall, Lightning dissolved into a thousand sparkles, disappearing into the sky. Barnaby's owner came to take him home, but not before the bull gave Lily a gentle nudge goodbye.

"Will Lightning come back?" Lily asked, looking at the storm clouds fading away.

Grandfather squeezed her hand. "Magic always returns when you least expect it. Especially to those who believe."

That night, Lily looked at the blurry photo on her iPhone. In the golden smudge, she could almost see Lightning's tiny shape, and beside it, Barnaby's happy face. She smiled, already planning next Saturday's game, knowing that sometimes the best friends arrive when you least expect them – in storms, behind orange trees, or even as sparks of lightning on a padel court.
