The Lightning Friend of Orange Hair
Lily had the most extraordinary hair in the entire world. It wasn't just orange — it was the color of sunset clouds, pumpkin patches, and marigolds all mixed together. And it had a secret: it stood straight up whenever magic was near.
One summer evening, while Lily sat on her porch watching storm clouds gather, her orange curls began to tingle. ZIP! A tiny bolt of lightning danced from the sky and landed right on her head.
"Ouch!" cried Lily, but then she giggled. The lightning hadn't hurt her at all. Instead, it had curled up like a sleepy kitten in her wild orange hair.
"Hello there," said Lily softly. "Are you lonely?"
The little lightning spark flickered happily, changing colors from bright yellow to soft orange to gentle pink. It had a tiny face and the sweetest smile Lily had ever seen.
"I'm Spark," crackled the little being. "I've been looking for a friend for hundreds of years. Most people run away when they see me. But your hair... it's perfect!"
Lily's heart glowed warmer than any lightning bolt could ever be. "Would you like to be my friend, Spark?"
"YES!" Spark zoomed around her head in excitement, making her orange hair sparkle like a thousand tiny stars.
Every evening after that, when Lily sat on her porch, Spark would swoop down from the clouds. They would play games, tell jokes, and make lightning shadows on the wall. Sometimes Spark would bring other lonely lightning bolts to meet Lily, and soon she had the most electrifying group of friends anyone could imagine.
Lily learned that the things that seem different or scary — like lightning — might just be looking for friendship. And Spark learned that the best friends aren't afraid of what makes you special.
So whenever you see lightning during a summer storm, look closely. It might just be Spark and Lily, playing tag in the clouds, their orange hair and lightning hearts lighting up the sky together.
