The Lightning Friend

Maya loved thunderstorms. She would press her face against the window, watching the sky dance with brilliant flashes. One evening, as lightning streaked across the dark clouds like silver ribbons, something incredible happened.

A tiny spark of lightning didn't fade away. Instead, it zipped through her window and landed on her iPhone screen! Maya gasped as the spark danced across her favorite game—Zombie Zoo, where she took care of little zombie animals.

The lightning spark swirled and glowed, and suddenly, a small creature popped right out of her phone! It looked just like the zombie bunny from her game, but instead of being gray and scary, it shimmered with golden light.

"I'm Zappy!" the creature squeaked. "I was trapped in your phone, but your friendship with all those zombie animals set me free!"

Maya's eyes widened. "You're alive?"

"I am now!" Zappy bounced happily. "Lightning gives magical power to things that are loved. You've played with us every day for months. That's the strongest magic of all—friendship!"

Outside, another flash of lightning illuminated the room. Zappy grew worried. "I need to go home to the clouds, or I'll disappear when the storm ends. But I'll never forget you!"

Maya felt a tear roll down her cheek. "Will I ever see you again?"

Zappy touched her nose with his glowing paw. "Every time there's a storm, look at the lightning. One of those flashes? That's me waving to my best friend."

With one last brilliant spark, Zappy zoomed back out the window, joining the dance of lightning in the sky.

Now, whenever thunder rumbles, Maya doesn't just watch—she waves back. Because somewhere in those brilliant flashes, her magical friend is remembering the girl who taught him that love and friendship can set anyone free, even a little lightning bunny trapped inside an iPhone.
