The Lightning Fish Pool
Ten-year-old Maya loved exploring her grandmother's old house. Behind the garden, she found something amazing - a swimming pool that looked like it had been forgotten for years. But Maya saw magic where others saw neglect.
One rainy afternoon, Maya noticed something strange. A thick black cable snaked from the house toward the pool, glowing faintly whenever lightning flashed across the dark sky. Her grandmother had called it the "storm cable," saying it connected the house to something special.
As thunder rumbled, Maya couldn't resist. She slipped outside and saw the most incredible sight - the pool was shimmering with blue light! Tiny fish made of pure lightning were swimming beneath the surface, leaving trails of sparkle like underwater stars.
"They're lightning fish!" Maya whispered. They only appeared during storms!
The cable pulsed with energy, and Maya felt it calling her. She dipped her toes into the warm, glowing water. The lightning fish swam right to her, nudging her feet gently. They weren't scary at all - they were friendly!
Maya climbed in carefully. The fish guided her deeper, showing her secrets of their magical world. They performed beautiful dances, creating patterns of light that made Maya gasp with wonder. Swimming with lightning fish felt like flying through a galaxy!
The cable suddenly brightened, and Maya understood - it was a bridge between two worlds. The lightning fish were守护 (guardians) of special places, and this pool was their sanctuary.
"Come back anytime," the fish seemed to say as the storm passed. Their light faded, but Maya knew they would return.
She dried off and hurried inside, her heart full of magic. That night, Maya learned something important: the most extraordinary things often hide in ordinary places, waiting for someone curious enough to find them.
And whenever storms came, Maya would be there, ready to swim with her lightning fish friends again.
