The Lightning Fish and the Brave Little Bear

Barnaby was a small bear with very big dreams. But Barnaby had a secret—he was afraid of water. While other bears splashed and played in the sparkling river, Barnaby stayed on the grassy bank, watching sadly.

One hot afternoon, something strange fell from the sky. PLOP! An orange fruit landed right beside Barnaby's paw. But this wasn't an ordinary orange. It glowed with a soft, pulsing light—tiny bolts of lightning danced beneath its skin!

Curious, Barnaby nudged the magical orange toward the water. As it touched the surface, something amazing happened. The orange didn't sink. Instead, it transformed into a tiny fish with scales that shimmered like captured lightning!

"Hello!" chirped the fish. "I'm Zap! I've been waiting for someone brave enough to find me."

"I'm not brave," Barnaby whispered. "I'm afraid of water."

Zap swam closer. "That's okay! Everyone's afraid of something. Would you like to see something wonderful? Just put one paw in. Just one."

Barnaby hesitated, then slowly dipped one paw into the cool water. Nothing bad happened. In fact, it felt wonderful! Zap darted around his paw, leaving tiny trails of light that looked like miniature lightning bolts.

"See?" said Zap. "Swimming is just like dancing, but the water holds you up. Try it!"

Barnaby waded deeper. To his surprise, his body floated! Zap swam beside him, glowing like a little lantern, showing Barnaby how to paddle his paws. They played until sunset—swimming, diving, and racing through the currents.

When other bears saw Barnaby swimming, they couldn't believe their eyes. Barnaby wasn't afraid anymore! He had discovered something magical: sometimes the things we fear most can become our greatest joys, especially when we have a friend to help us be brave.

That night, Barnaby fell asleep with a smile, dreaming of water adventures with his lightning fish friend. And whenever he felt afraid, he remembered: courage isn't about not being scared—it's about being scared and trying anyway.
