The Lightning Dog's Magical Game
Ten-year-old Emma had the wildest **hair** in town—crazy curls that stuck out like sunshine, no matter how much she brushed them. But her favorite thing wasn't her hair. It was Barnaby, her scruffy golden **dog** with one ear that stood up and one that flopped down.
One stormy afternoon, Emma sat by her window watching raindrops race down the glass. Suddenly, a bolt of **lightning** flashed so bright it turned her room purple! CRACK-BOOM! The thunder shook the whole house. But something strange happened—Barnaby started glowing with a soft golden light, like he'd swallowed a tiny star.
"Barnaby!" Emma gasped.
The dog trotted to her fish bowl where Goldie, her little orange **goldfish**, swam in circles. Goldie usually just blew bubbles, but today she floated right out of the water and hovered in the air like a tiny balloon fish!
"Want to play?" Emma wondered aloud. "Let's play **baseball**!"
In the backyard, something magical happened. Barnaby could hit the ball with his paw—WHAP!—and send it flying into the clouds. Goldie would splash through the air to catch it in her bubble. The storm clouds cleared, and sunshine beamed down on their enchanted game.
Emma learned something wonderful that day: magic hides in unexpected places, like stormy afternoons and faithful friends. The best adventures come when you believe in impossible things.
From then on, whenever Emma's curls got too wild, she just smiled. She knew that inside her lived the same magic that made goldfish fly and dogs hit home runs. And that was the best kind of magic of all—the magic of friendship and wonder.
