The Lightning Doctor Dog
Barnaby was no ordinary dog. While other dogs chased balls and sticks, Barnaby chased storms.
One evening, as dark clouds gathered overhead, Barnaby saw something amazing. A tiny lightning bolt, no bigger than a firefly, fluttered down like a glowing leaf and landed right on his nose!
"Oh no!" cried the little lightning bolt, whose name was Zippy. "I've fallen from the sky! I was supposed to deliver medicine to Grandfather Cloud. He's feeling very poorly."
Barnaby's ears perked up. "What kind of medicine?"
"Cloud vitamins!" Zippy explained sadly. "Clouds need lightning vitamins to stay fluffy and white. Without them, clouds turn gray and rainy, or worse — they disappear completely!"
Barnaby knew what he had to do. "Climb onto my back, Zippy! We'll get you to Grandfather Cloud!"
Together they raced through the storm, Zippy glowing like a lantern on Barnaby's head. The thunder rumbled like a hungry tummy, and the rain pattered like tiny footsteps. But Barnaby was brave.
When they reached the highest cloud, Grandfather Cloud looked thin and wispy, almost transparent.
Zippy delivered the lightning vitamin, and — ZAP! — Grandfather Cloud puffed up instantly, turning fluffy and white again.
"Thank you!" boomed Grandfather Cloud. "Barnaby, for your kindness, I grant you a special gift. From now on, whenever there's a storm, you'll understand our language."
And that's why, during thunderstorms, Barnaby would tilt his head and listen. Other dogs thought he was scared, but really, he was just catching up with his cloud friends.
The moral? Even a small dog can make a big difference, and sometimes the scariest things are actually just friends who need help.
