The Lightning Cat's Secret
Lily was running through the attic on a rainy Saturday, searching for treasure. Thunder rumbled outside, making the floorboards tremble. In the dusty corner behind an old trunk, she found something strange: a thick black cable that seemed to glow with a faint purple light.
Curious, Lily followed the cable across the attic floor. It snaked through a tiny mouse hole in the wall — but this mouse hole was big enough for her to squeeze through! On the other side, everything sparkled like diamonds.
A golden cat with eyes like lightning bolts sat atop a stone pedestal. But this wasn't just a cat — it had wings and the wise face of a sphinx.
"You found the lightning cable," the cat-sphinx purred, its voice sounding like wind chimes. "Brave and curious, just like a true adventurer should be."
Lily's eyes widened. "Who are you?"
"I am Sparklefur, guardian of the Courage Kingdom," the cat replied. "Long ago, I was an ordinary cat until lightning struck me during the biggest storm ever. The lightning magic gave me wisdom and wings, and now I help children find their own courage."
Lily's heart beat fast. "But I'm not brave. I'm scared of everything — thunder, dark rooms, even speaking in class."
Sparklefur purred and gently touched Lily's forehead with a soft paw. "Being brave isn't about not being scared. Being brave means doing what's right even when you ARE scared. The fact that you came through this mysterious cable proves you already have courage inside you."
Suddenly, the cable began to glow brighter. "Your adventure is ending, but the courage you found stays forever," Sparklefur said. "Remember, whenever you feel scared, think of this cat-sphinx who believes in you."
Lily squeezed back through the mouse hole. The cable was just a dusty old wire again, but something had changed. She wasn't scared of the thunder anymore. In fact, she smiled every time she saw lightning, remembering her magical friend.
From that day on, whenever Lily felt afraid, she would touch her forehead where Sparklefur had touched her, and find the courage to be brave.
