The Lightning Cat's Secret
Lily had the most wild and tangled hair in the whole neighborhood. It stuck out in every direction, especially when she rubbed it with her balloon. Her cat, Whiskers, would bat at the floating strands with his paws, making Lily giggle.
One stormy evening, as lightning flashed outside Lily's window, she noticed something strange. An old cable was dangling from her ceiling fan, swaying in the breeze from the open window. Whiskers meowed loudly and jumped toward it.
"Wait, Whiskers!" Lily called, but the cat's paw touched the cable at the exact moment lightning struck nearby.
ZZZ-ZAP! Golden sparkles swirled around the room. When the glitter cleared, Lily gasped. Whiskers was glowing softly, his fur twinkling like tiny stars. And where the cable had been, a shimmering pyramid now stood in the middle of her bedroom.
The pyramid was small, no bigger than a lunchbox, but it pulsed with warm light. Lily reached out, and the pyramid floated into her hands. Inside, she could see miniature scenes—a beautiful garden, a cozy library, and a room full of toys.
"You found the Pyramid of Wishes," whispered a voice. Lily looked down to see Whiskers was now speaking! "The lightning unlocked its magic. Only someone with a kind heart and wild imagination can use it."
Lily's eyes widened. "What does it do?"
"It grants one wish," Whiskers explained. "But choose wisely. The pyramid will disappear after."
Lily thought carefully. She could wish for endless candy, or to fly, or for a million toys. But then she looked at Whiskers, who had been her best friend since she was a baby.
"I wish," Lily said softly, "that every child could have a magical friend like you."
The pyramid glowed brighter than ever, then burst into thousands of sparkles that flew out the window, spreading across the sky like shooting stars. The cable reappeared on the ceiling fan, and Whiskers stopped glowing, though his eyes still held a special sparkle.
"That was the perfect wish," Whiskers purred, curling up beside Lily as the storm passed. "And because of you, magic will find its way to many children tonight."
Lily hugged her cat, her wild hair tickling his nose. She fell asleep with the biggest smile, wondering what magical adventures tomorrow would bring.
