The Lightning Cat's Secret
Lily was afraid of storms. Every time thunder rumbled, she hid under her quilt with her stuffed rabbit, Barnaby. But everything changed on the night of the biggest storm of the year.
A flash of lightning lit up her bedroom window. CRACK! Thunder shook the house. Lily squeezed her eyes shut.
Then she heard a tiny meow.
She peeked out from under her quilt. Sitting on her windowsill was the most beautiful cat she had ever seen. Its fur shone like silver moonlight, and its eyes glowed golden like two tiny stars. The cat wasn't afraid of the storm at all. It watched the lightning dance across the sky as if it were the most wonderful show in the world.
"I'm Clover," the cat said softly.
Lily rubbed her eyes. "You can talk?"
"I can do lots of things," Clover purred, jumping lightly onto Lily's bed. "Would you like to see why storms are actually magical?"
Lily nodded, her fear replaced by curiosity.
Clover touched her nose to Lily's forehead. Suddenly, Lily could see what Clover saw. The lightning wasn't scary—it was painting pictures in the clouds! The thunder wasn't loud and angry—it was the sky laughing! And the rain wasn't wet and gloomy—it was watering all the flowers so they could bloom tomorrow.
"Do you see now?" Clover asked.
"I see a magical world," Lily whispered. "Will you be my friend?"
The cat's golden eyes sparkled even brighter. "I've been looking for a friend who sees the magic in everything."
From that night on, Lily was never afraid of storms again. Whenever lightning flashed across the sky, she knew her magical cat friend was somewhere nearby, turning scary things into wonderful adventures. And she learned that sometimes, the things that frighten us the most can become the most beautiful parts of our lives—if only we have the courage to see them differently.
