The Lightning Cable's Magic
Seven-year-old Lily loved storms. While other children hid under blankets, she pressed her nose against the window, watching rain dance on the glass.
One rainy afternoon, Lily explored her grandmother's dusty attic. Behind stacks of old books, she discovered something strange—a thick silver **cable** that glowed faintly blue, stretching from the attic window all the way up through the roof and into the sky.
"Grandma! What's this?" Lily called, tugging gently at the mysterious wire.
Her grandmother's eyes twinkled. "Ah, you found the storm cable! It's been in our family for five generations."
"What does it do?"
"Come outside during the next storm, and you'll see."
That evening, thunder rumbled. Lightning flashed across the dark sky. Lily and Grandma hurried to the backyard, where the cable pulsed with brilliant blue light. Each time **lightning** struck nearby, the cable hummed and absorbed the energy, glowing brighter and brighter.
"The cable collects storm magic," Grandma explained, opening a small wooden box. "Look inside."
Lily gasped. The box held hundreds of tiny, sparkling tablets—**vitamin** pills that shone like tiny stars.
"These aren't ordinary vitamins," Grandma said. "Each one holds a drop of lightning magic. They give children courage for their biggest fears."
Lily's heart raced. "Can I try one?"
Grandma smiled. "Only if you promise to use the courage wisely. The magic doesn't make you fearless—it makes you brave enough to face your fears."
Lily swallowed one glowing vitamin. Warmth spread through her chest. Suddenly, she remembered the dark basement she'd always been afraid to explore. With new courage, she grabbed her flashlight and marched downstairs. She wasn't fearless, but she was brave enough to try.
That night, Lily made her own discovery: her little brother Max hid under his bed during every thunderstorm, shaking with fear.
Lily knew what to do. She climbed to the attic, carefully collected a small **vitamin**, and brought it to Max. "This will help you be brave," she whispered.
Together, they watched the storm from the window—Max's hand clutching the glowing **vitamin**, the **cable** pulsing outside as it collected another flash of **lightning**.
"The magic," Grandma said later, "works best when shared."
Lily smiled, watching her brother finally sleep through the storm. She had learned something wonderful: courage multiplied when given away.
