The Lightning Cable Mystery
Lily loved to be a spy. Every morning, she'd peek through her special telescope, watching the secrets of the world. Her favorite spot was by the old cable that stretched across the bay like a silver spiderweb.
One stormy afternoon, lightning struck the cable! CRACK! BOOM! The cable began to glow with magical golden light. Lily's curly hair stood straight up, tingling with excitement. She knew something amazing was about to happen.
Down by the shore, she met a glowing dolphin named Splash. The lightning had given him special powers! Splash nuzzled Lily's hand, and she felt warm sparkles dance up her arm.
"The lightning magic lives in the water now," Splash said in bubbles that popped into words. "Will you come swimming with me? We need to find where the magic belongs!"
Lily wasn't the best swimmer, but with Splash by her side, she felt brave. They dove beneath the waves, where the water shimmered like liquid stars. Other glowing creatures joined them—a turtle with a lightning-bolt shell, fish that left trails of sparkles.
They discovered an underwater cave where a baby sea dragon was trapped in a tangle of old fishing nets. The lightning magic inside Splash could help, but he needed Lily's courage too.
"Together," Lily said firmly.
Working as a team, Lily untangled the nets while Splash used his glowing nose to calm the frightened creature. When the sea dragon was free, it nuzzled them both, and three tiny scales fell into Lily's palm—each one glowing with a different color.
"Friendship is the strongest magic," Splash said.
Now, whenever Lily uses her spy telescope, she wears the three scales in her hair. They glow when someone nearby needs help, and she knows exactly where to go. The lightning chose her that day, not because she was special, but because she had a heart big enough to share its magic with everyone in need.
