The Lightning Cable Car

Mira loved storms. While other children hid under blankets, she pressed her nose against the window, watching the sky flash silver. One evening, she noticed something strange—an old cable car on the hill behind her house, glowing whenever lightning struck.

The next morning, Mira dragged her best friend Leo up the muddy path. "Look!" she pointed. "It's real!"

The cable car was tiny, painted in peeling rainbow colors. A thick steel cable stretched up into the clouds. Leo tugged Mira's sleeve. "My mom says spinach makes you strong. Maybe we should have brought some?"

Mira laughed. She stepped inside the cable car, and suddenly—CRACK! Lightning flashed. The car lurched upward, climbing the cable into the sky!

They soared through clouds that tasted like cotton candy. Below, their town became a sprinkling of lights. Higher and higher they went until the cable ended at a floating island.

There, an enormous garden glowed with plants that sparkled like stars. An old woman with hair like storm clouds greeted them. "Welcome, young travelers. I am Guardian of the Lightning Garden."

She showed them plants that grew music, flowers that whispered secrets, and bushes bearing ordinary-looking spinach. "This isn't regular spinach," she explained. "One bite gives you the courage to face any fear."

Mira thought of her little brother, afraid of the dark. Leo thought of his stage fright. They each took a leaf. It tasted like summer rain and possibility.

The Guardian smiled. "True friendship is like lightning—bright, powerful, and connects hearts across any distance. This cable only appears to those who help each other."

The cable car returned them home as the sun rose. Mira hugged Leo. "Best adventure ever."

"Even the spinach part?" Leo grinned.

"Especially the spinach."
