The Lightning Bull's Secret Pool

Ten-year-old Maya loved her backyard pool, but she'd never seen anything like what happened that stormy Tuesday. Through the rain, she spotted an old television cable someone had left near the fence. It buzzed with strange energy.

Suddenly — CRACK! Lightning flashed brighter than the sun, striking the old cable directly. Maya watched in awe as a tiny bull no bigger than her hand trotted out from the glowing wire. His coat shimmered like liquid silver, and his horns sparkled with tiny stars.

"I'm Ferdinand," the bull said in a voice like gentle thunder. "The lightning freed me from the old cable where I've slept for fifty years."

Mayla's eyes widened. "You were INSIDE the cable?"

Ferdinand nodded. "I'm a Storm Bull. I ride lightning to secret places. Want to see my favorite spot?"

He grew to pony size, and Maya climbed onto his back. WHOOSH! They rode through the sky on a lightning bolt until they reached a hidden pool in the forest — the Secret Pool of Wishes. The water glowed with every color imaginable.

"Make a wish," Ferdinand said. "But choose wisely. The pool grants one wish per storm."

Maya thought hard. She could wish for toys, or fame, or magic powers. Instead, she said, "I wish my sick grandmother could feel better."

The pool pulsed with golden light. A gentle breeze carried the magic away.

Back home, Maya's mother called. "Grandma's better! The doctors can't explain it!"

Ferdinand smiled, shrinking back down to hand-size. "A kind wish is the strongest magic." He touched Maya's forehead with his starry horn. "Come find me before any storm. We'll have more adventures."

Maya watched the tiny bull trot back into the old cable, which now gleamed with a faint silvery light. She smiled, knowing magic was real — and the best magic lives in a kind heart.
